Dental Referrals - How to Ask Patients For Referrals

Asking for dental referralsIt can be a challenge for dentists to know how to tactfully ask their patients for referrals without feeling awkward or seeming pushy. Luckily, there are ways you can alleviate the anxiety that can sometimes go along with asking your patients to send their family and friends to see you!

First, put yourself in your patient’s position. Make sure you’re providing a great service for them, from the minute they walk through your door, all throughout their procedure, and when they leave. If you were to go somewhere for a service and you had a great experience, you’d have no problem with recommending this place to your friends and family! Your patients will feel the same way. Consistently provide them with a great experience and they’ll be glad to tell their friends and family about your wonderful practice.

Provide your patients with opportunities to complement your practice. When they tell you your staff is wonderful, or that they barely felt that shot you had to give them, this is the perfect time to hand them a business card and ask them to tell their friends about you.

Lastly, if you aren’t already providing a take-home bag for your patients, start doing it! It’s easy to slip in a business card and ask patients to share it with friends and family.

Your best dental marketing tool is word-of-mouth, but many patients will need to be reminded that you’re accepting new patients and would love to care for their whole family!
